Our team of consultants have the combined experience and certification to manage a diversity of environmental consulting scenarios.

Scott Steer graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997 and Master of Environmental Toxicology degree in 2005. Scott has more than 20 years of experience in the contaminated sites industry and specializes in the performance and technical management of human health and ecological risk assessments for properties with soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water and air contamination.

Scott is a Risk Assessment Specialist with the Society of Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals (CSAP) of British Columbia. CSAP members are professionals who have undergone stringent technical evaluation and have been appointed by the British Columbia Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) to review applications for regulatory instruments and recommend to ENV when they should be issued. Scott is also a Registered Professional Biologist in the Province of British Columbia.

Jeremy Phelan is an environmental scientist holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in chemistry from the University of Calgary. Jeremy has a strong background in hazardous material assessment (asbestos, lead, silica, mould) and industrial hygiene, and human health and ecological risk assessment for contaminated sites with working experience in the hydro-electric, land development, housing, energy, mining, forestry, transportation and highways, and habitat compensation sectors British Columbia, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories.

Jeremy is a Scientist and Project Manager and applies himself in both lead and supporting roles providing technical support; client care; budgeting; contractor coordination, supervision, and training; and field work and reporting for monitoring and assessment projects. Jeremy’s education and experience working within hazardous materials and contaminated sites portfolios make him a valuable asset for implementing and executing monitoring and sampling programs, and analyzing and reporting on laboratory results.

Jennifer Mayberry is an environmental scientist with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario. Jennifer has over 20 years of experience in contaminated sites assessment, remediation, human health and ecological risk assessment, and environmental program management working as an environmental consultant, an advisor on sustainability and environmental projects for a federal government department, and the environmental manager for a large local government.

Jenn has a strong background in contaminated sites, hazardous materials, environmental protection, environmental emergency response, waste reduction and diversion, environmental policy development, and managing regulatory enforcement and compliance.

Ryan Blake is a mechanical engineering technologist with a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University. Ryan has professional credentials to conduct hazardous materials assessments and industrial hygiene activities for municipalities, energy utilities, health authorities, insurance, restoration, construction, real estate, private commercial, and homeowner clients throughout the Okanagan and Kootenay regions.

Ryan has over four years of experience in the hazardous materials field and has been involved in hundreds of projects related to hazardous materials surveys, risk assessment and exposure control plan development, abatement monitoring for renovation, restoration, and/or demolition of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional structures focusing predominantly on characterization of asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold.

Lisa Rein has over 22 years’ experience in Finance and Operations Management, with 19 of those years working at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. Calling Nelson home since fall of 2017, Lisa has been working part time for Interior Health and the Regional District of Central Kootenay, as well as running her Airbnb.

Currently working part time for Steer Environmental, Lisa takes care of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Invoicing, Payroll and our general operational requirements.
